Protex Water partnered with Peabody Energy to design, manufacture, install, and commission a 120 kL/day modular Elementz (SBR) sewage treatment plant for the Centurion Mine Village in Queensland, tailored to site-specific demands.
Designed to Australian Standards, the plant utilises a Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR) process to treat domestic wastewater and produce effluent suitable for irrigation reuse. The treatment train incorporates a sewage pump station, automated inlet screening, balance storage, four SBR treatment tanks with fine bubble aeration, decanting, tertiary AFM filtration, UV disinfection, and treated effluent storage.
To support reliable long-term performance, the system also includes integrated sludge handling and screw press dewatering, together with chemical dosing for PAC, sucrose, caustic, chlorine, and polymer to optimise treatment efficiency and compliance.
Delivered as a robust, containerised solution, the Centurion Mine STP was developed to provide a practical, low-maintenance and operator-friendly outcomes, while addressing key site priorities.
High-quality, industry-leading equipment and instrumentation is utilised throughout, including from Grundfos, Kubíček, Endress+Hauser, Siemens, and Schneider Electric providing dependable operation in this challenging remote environment.
