SBR Sewage Treatment Plants for South Walker Creek Mine

Protex Water was engaged to supply a 120kL/day Elementz (SBR) Sewage Treatment Plant for Stanmore Resources, South Walker Creek Mine, located 35 kilometers west of Nebo in Queensland’s Bowen Basin.

Designed to stringent Australian Standards and to meet site-specific operational requirements, the plant uses a (SBR) Sequencing Batch Reactor process to treat domestic wastewater and produce effluent suitable for site specific reuse purposes.

The multi-stage treatment train incorporates automated inlet screening, balance storage, SBR treatment tanks with fine bubble aeration, decanting, tertiary AFM filtration, UV disinfection, and treated effluent storage tanks.

This Elementz system also includes integrated sludge handling, together with chemical dosing for PAC, sucrose, caustic, chlorine, and polymer to optimise treatment efficiency and compliance.

Delivered, installed and commissioned as a robust, containerised solution, the South Walker Creek STP was developed to provide a practical, low-maintenance and operator-friendly outcomes, while addressing key site priorities.

All integrated equipment and instrumentation is provide by industry-leading suppliers, including from Endress+Hauser, Grundfos, Kubíček, Schneider Electric, and Siemens providing dependable long-term operation of the system.

Fully automated operation is achieved through an integrated control system with local HMI interface and remote monitoring capability, allowing plant performance to be monitored and optimised with minimal operator intervention.
