DRINKING WATER Plant

Cutting-edge Potable Water Plant for Clare Township

The Township of Clare is located 80km south-east of Townsville in QLD, we were asked to replace the aging Treatment Plant, taking water from the nearby Burdekin River and treating it to meet potable water standards.

As part of the Clare WTP Renewal project, Sunwater engaged Protex Water to supply, install and commission the new Drinking Water Treatment Plant to replace the old asset, incorporating new technologies and a larger capacity.

The plant takes water from the Burdekin River with the treatment train comprising of clarification through Lamella Clarifiers, before going through AFM and GAC Filters. Post filtration, the water is treated with Ultraviolet Disinfection and Chlorine Dosing prior to being stored for distribution.

Throughout the system there are several monitoring points for the safety of the system and also to ensure the water quality always meetings specification. The plant also has a fully integrated SCADA System to make monitoring a breeze for the operations team.
